THE INFLUENCE OF GLOBALIZATION ON THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

This article examines the impact of globalization on the English language, focusing on its spread, adaptation, and evolution in different social, cultural, and economic contexts. Globalization has led to English becoming the dominant lingua franca in international communication, trade, education, and technology. The study analyzes linguistic changes, including the emergence of new vocabulary, hybrid forms, and simplified structures, as well as sociolinguistic phenomena such as World Englishes, code-switching, and language borrowing. The article also discusses the implications of globalization for language teaching, identity formation, and intercultural communication. It emphasizes both the opportunities and challenges globalization presents for the English language and its speakers.
