FOOD NAMES IN THE KARAKALPAK LANGUAGE: A LINGUISTIC, LEXICO-SEMANTIC AND ETHNOLINGUISTIC ANALYSIS

The article examines Karakalpak food names as a lexical-semantic layer reflecting linguistic development, cultural memory, and social practices. Based on linguistic, ethnographic, and lexicographic sources, it analyzes semantic differentiation, word formation, borrowing, dialectal variation, and ethnographic vocabulary. The findings identify native and borrowed terms for dishes, beverages, ingredients, and utensils, demonstrating semantic specialization and cultural continuity shaped by long-term Central Asian linguistic contacts.
