SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY OF ABU RAYHAN BIRUNI AND THE METHODS USED BY THE SCHOLAR

Abstract

Beruni, as an encyclopedic scholar, left behind a vast body of written work. This article analyzes the approaches of global scholars in studying Abu Rayhan al-Beruni’s scientific legacy, as well as the methodologies the scholar employed in the analysis and description of various religions. In his works dedicated to the history of religions, Beruni utilized diverse methods to elucidate the origins of religions, comparative analyses of their belief systems, worship rituals, sacred texts, and the conflicts between different sects. Furthermore, he articulated his insights regarding traditions that emerged millennia ago.
